TMASF Connects is a non-profit association dedicated to promoting options to driving alone -- local employment, trip linking, wheel based or other. We think this information just adds to the quality of life of those who call the Bay Area home. We started out as an organization dedicated to public transit options but have steadily grown over the years. In addition to our regular commute clinics, festivals and informational campaigns, our site now provides up-to-the minute traffic news and environmental links, daycare solutions for every member of the family, and a comprehensive section on jobs, careers and business here in the Bay Area. We’ve linked all these resources and expanded our services so people can improve their skills, take advantage of job opportunities and connect their trips to daycare with their commute. This year, the TMASF turns 20! The association continues to be governed by the TMASF Board of Directors and is managed by a small professional staff. The TMASF Connects Works program is overseen by a committee of the TMASF Board of Directors, the Executive Advisory Council. We are comprised of more than 55 of San Francisco’s finest office buildings who look to provide their tenants with alternatives to driving alone. First developed in response to the City’s Transit First policy, TMASF Connects works closely with public sector transportation, planning and environmental groups, but is not a government agency. In 2009, TMASF’s program and commuter survey data was approved by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) for the maximum allowable points for the trip reduction credit for the green building certification program, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Existing Buildings. This means that all TMASF member buildings may receive the maximum number of points allowed for the Alternative Commuting Transportation section. Survey results over the past 20 years consistently find that commuters traveling to TMASF member buildings choose driving alone for less than 10% of all trips. During our LEED evaluation, these survey results formed the basis that excuses members from needing to conduct additional building specific surveys -- saving time and money. This recognition by LEED of the TMASF program efficiency was the first of its kind for an association based trip reduction program. Last, but not least. We are funded solely through our membership and do not accept or solicit public funding. We hope this site has been useful to you. If the mood strikes, please send us your comments here.
